Building description
Historically home to The J.W. Ruger Company and Kellner Brothers, is a vacant three-story brick building located at the southwest corner of Chicago Street and Perry Street. The building was constructed in 1868 and has had several additions between 1872-1925.
Ellicott Development is renovating the interior of the building into a mix of uses. The first floor would include retail/office space fronting on Perry Street, warehouse space in the rear and 7 market-rate apartments would occupy floors 2 and 3. We are working in consultation with the State Historic Preservation Office and National Park Service to rehabilitate the property in alignment with the Secretary of Interior Standards for Historic Preservation.
Lastly, in order to satisfy our parking needs related to the proposed rehabilitation, we propose to construct two (2) parking lots. One of the lots will be located along Marvin Street and will have 28 spaces. This lot will be used by the future commercial and warehouse tenants. The second parking lot will be located at the northwest corner of Chicago Street and Fulton Street. This lot will have 43 spaces and will be used by the residential tenants.
