Suraj Dalal is a Partner at Kabani Hotel Group, a specialized hospitality & development brokerage firm. Suraj began in 2020 as a Financial Analyst where he analyzed, underwrote, and modeled over 1.2 billion dollars’ worth of hotel properties. In 2022, Suraj transitioned over to investment sales where he specializes in the acquisitions and dispositions of hospitality investments. During his tenure, Suraj has sold over $400,000,000 worth of hotel transactions.
How long have you used Crexi?
It’s hard to pinpoint the exact date, but we officially made the switch around 2020 or 2021 after previously using competitors. Our team was with Marcus, and what won us over was Crexi’s Deal Room—how organized it was and how easily everyone could access the information. Many people still use competitors, but Crexi has proven itself to be well-organized, extremely broker-friendly, and allows for quick adjustments, privacy settings, and efficient communication. You’ve been incredibly responsive, which has been a great experience for us.
What is your favorite part of Crexi or your favorite Crexi PRO feature?
The ability to track and categorize leads for each deal is invaluable. We’re constantly reviewing who’s viewing our listings, signing CAs, and submitting offers. For any broker, keeping an organized record of deal engagement and follow-ups is crucial, and Crexi makes that easy. The ability to contact leads directly is also a huge advantage!
Can you share any specific wins or success stories you’ve had with Crexi?
Hotels tend to be more complex deals, so there isn’t a quick success story, but we recently closed a Holiday Inn Express in Florida City using Crexi’s Private Label feature. The deal was completely confidential—no one outside of our direct discussions knew about it. Crexi’s tools allowed us to meet the ownership’s request for a discreet marketing process while still reaching the right buyers.
What would you tell someone on the fence about using Crexi PRO?
Give it a try! Jumping into CRE brokerage and listing platforms can feel intimidating, and people may hesitate due to the cost. However, if you have a long-term strategy, Crexi becomes an essential part of your daily business. The value it provides far outweighs the investment.
Do you have any advice for fellow brokers or young brokers entering your field?
Stay organized and follow up with every lead—because you never know who your next buyer will be.
