Seven Lakes West is located in the Seven Lakes communities and is only a short drive to the world famous Pinehurst golf resort.
Formally known as Beacon Ridge, Seven Lakes West is a luxury gated residential community with golf and water recreation. It is home to Beacon Ridge Country Club and a championship 18-hole golf course designed by Gene Hamm.
Seven Lakes West is now one of three luxury gated communities home to more than 4000 residents. That initial design has since grown to include three gated resort-like communities with golf courses, swimming, horse stables and trails, tennis courts and more pristine lakes.
The history of Seven Lakes can be traced back to the early 1970s when local businessman Fred Lawrence purchased 1,200 acres of farmland while on a hunting trip. Lawrence the original developer had a vision to create a community with a large lake at its center and in 1979 he acquired 3,200 acres of land and in 1983 he constructed an earthen dam. It took eight years to fill the lake to capacity.
Lake Auman is now a 1,000-acre spring-fed lake surrounded by local southern longleaf pines. Seven Lakes West now has its own marina and park with a sandy beach next to recreational water skiing and boating.
