Property History
This historically preserved building consist of a brick facade, concrete foundation, wood framing and a modified bitumen roof. This property is very rich in its history and its location highly desired. The windows on the main (south) Facade have stone lintels, sills, quoins and a balustrade - all original. The windows on the ease and west elevations have curved brick headers and stone sills. All windows are double-hung, single light wood windows. This is consistent with the original function of a hotel off Main Street. The original large glass openings of the ground level hotel office and store have been filled in with brick. A central entry with flanking columns is an alternation made after the 1960's. The interior of The Masonic Building boast 20-35 potential loft areas. A separate kitchen and multi purpose rooms.
The Masonic Building in its early years was considered the conductors hotel. Rail Conductors changing shifts and stopping through Memphis at the time would frequent the desirable location for a good nights rest.
