Here is what is coming to the area, in the near future.
Infrastructure Update | Baldwin County Commission
At today’s meeting, the Baldwin County Commission adopted the updated Baldwin Beach Express II Access Management Plan, an important step toward safer travel and better traffic flow across Baldwin County.
The Baldwin Beach Express II is planned as a 25-mile, multi-lane divided highway extending to Interstate 65. The project is designed to reduce congestion, support emergency evacuations, and help guide future growth.
“Today was a very historical moment for Baldwin County,” said Frank Lundy, Baldwin County Engineer. “This project will allow better access for property owners and better traffic flow. This is very important for planning and growth in Baldwin County. With the adoption of this new plan, we avoid plugging up intersections and public safety concerns.”
The updated plan focuses on:
Safer access through designated interchanges
Right-in/right-out access for some properties
Planned median openings for safer U-turns
A traffic signal at County Road 68
Planned interchanges include I-10, Truck Trail 17, County Road 112, U.S. Highway 31, Novelis, and I-65.
The previous plan was based on older roadway standards and did not account for future growth. This updated plan sets a clear path for future transportation improvements by reflecting today’s design practices, supporting growth, providing reasonable access for nearby properties, and keeping traffic moving safely and efficiently for years to come along one of Baldwin County's most important corridors.
