Sargent is a friendly community of 480 people and is in the eastern part of Custer County which is the second largest county in Nebraska. Custer County has a diversified economy, but agriculture dominates the economic environment. In the United States, Custer County ranks third in number of beef cows. The top three counties for beef cows in the USA are all in Nebraska! The ranch is 25 miles to Ord which offers all services including airport capable of landing small jets. Kearney and I-80 access is 80 miles. Kearney offers all shopping options, two hospitals and a commercial airport.
Present Operation: The ranch is owner operated with a summer cattle grazing program for 250 cow/calf pairs for six months. The 100 acre dryland cropland field is normally planted to a forage crop and hayed, but could be planted to grass and included in the grazing program. There are some pens on the south side of the dryland field but new corrals could be build along the county road on east side of the property. The ranch as ample water supply for cattle and wildlife with two electric wells and pipleline to remote tank sites plus numerous ponds.
