Downtown Devolopment Site
1.82 Acres in Orlando’s new Midtown Redevelopment District
Marketing description
206 Hillcrest St is a 1.82 Acre development site within the Midtown Orlando District. The most sought after land in Downtown Orlando. “What was once the home of the Orlando Sentinel will soon be the centerpiece of a $2 billion transformation,” Mayor Buddy Dyer said calling the project a city-defining landmark for generations to come.
The project calls for turning the property into a walkable, mixed-use district featuring new homes, businesses, retail and public spaces. Dyer said the project will be built in phases over the next decade.
“This is probably a 10-year buildout by the time they are done, so it will be done in a number of phases,” he said.
The redevelopment is a collaboration between Midtown Development and the internationally recognized Heatherwick Studio — the design team behind projects like New York’s Little Island and London’s Coal Drops Yard. Dyer said partnering with a globally known firm will help Orlando create something distinctive.
“Whatever I think they end up building will be iconic and catalytic for the city,” Dyer said.
