Marketing description

Located in Pittsburgh's Historic Troy Hill Neighborhood, Penn Brewery is both a Brewery and Restaurant and on the National Register of Historic Places. Brewing on this site dates back to the late 1840s, when German immigrants established one of the region's earliest brewing operations. The property's core buildings, including the original stock house and office, were constructed between 1879 and 1883. A notable surviving feature from this era is a labyrinth of stone caves and tunnels that were used to chill beer barrels before refrigeration. Beer production continued at the site for decades. In the 1980s, the historic buildings were renovated and transformed into the Penn Brewery that Pittsburghers know and love today.
