Fantastic hunting just 30 minutes from Lincoln! This little hidden gem of a property is located North of Garland and West of Branched Oak Lake. It sits adjacent to the Oak Glen Wildlife Management Area. During hunting season the numerous deer and turkey take refuge on this property to escape the pressure of hunters on the public ground. The Seller reports that there are always pheasant and a couple coveys of quail that hide in the thick open grass areas. The heart of this wooded property is a spring-fed pond in the middle of an oak and cedar grove. While the property looks dense from above, under the canopy is a wonderland of heavily trafficked deer trails and turkey tracks. The Owner did a controlled burn on the property a few years back. It did no damage to the massive oaks, but it burned off the lower branches of the cedars. You may have brief periods of ice cover, but that doesn’t last very long. The pond is, of course, seasonal in regards to water depth. In the spring and summer the pond will be high, and overflow to form a small creek that meanders through the woods. There is excellent fishing in the pond, evidenced by the photos of the large-mouth bass caught there. The edges of this pond are churned up by the hooves of all the deer coming to drink. This property is a rare opportunity for a great mixed bag hunting within a short drive from Lincoln or Omaha. This won’t last long!
